CMF's Movie Making week challenges students to create a 5-minute or shorter film - including all steps except for planning and story boarding - in just a week. It was a real challenge to film, animate, and edit in such a short time span - especially with classes going on as well! - but the leadership of Sunshine and Brandon, and a few very late nights in the library lead us to the completion of this film.
Sunshine and I completed the animations of our character Mini-Melvin. Below you'll find some of the shots I animated in particular.
We met the week before the challenge to plan, write the script, and story board. During the challenge, we met for multiple hours every night - as soon as I was done with class, I was either holding lights as we filmed, animating in Krita, or frantically editing together clips in Adobe After Effects.
All of us on the team were either a part of the animation or film club at NC State. Most of us had never met each other before, but everyone's passion for film brought us together, and it was really easy to collaborate. It was a lot of work, forced me to cancel all of my weekend plans, and probably didn't help my homework grades, but it was super fun, and I was really proud of what we got done in such a short amount of time.
